PRISON HOTEL

FOR most people, spending a night locked up in a cell would be undesirable. But this is a prison cell with a twist - as it's part of a HOTEL. 'Prisoners' at the hotel can experience a night locked up inside the former prison and find out firsthand what life was like inside the dingy cells, with the helping hand of a few modern necessities thrown in. The intriguing 56-room Alcatraz Hotel is located in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and sees guests don striped pyjamas to really get into the spirit of their stay. Receptionist David Woodard, 23, says: “Dr. Michael Koll and Dr. Andreas Kirsch bought the former prison and had the idea to change it into a hotel in 2007, five years after it closed.
