UNLIKELY PLAYMATES: BRAVE CHICKS PLAY WITH A PYTHON

A pair of chicks bravely decided to befriend a python, despite being the snake's favourite choice of food. The tiny chicks, thought to be just a few weeks old, fearlessly approached the metre-long python in a garden in the city of Blitar in East Java, Indonesia. The chicks cosied up to the python and remarkably emerged unscathed when the snake, presumably confused by the encounter, slithered away. The unusual scene was captured by 43-year-old photographer Monica Anantyowati, when she happened to spot the snake outside of a friend's window.
