RIVET-ING ALL WOOD TOWER

WELCOME to what could be the world's tallest TOTALLY wooden construction. Life's a BEECH for worshipers at this church that is now POPLAR with foreign tourists since being SPRUCED up after locals PINED for a revamp in recent years. Thanks to the carpentry genius of her creators this 123-foot-tall church complex is held together only by wooden rivets without a nail in sight. The Russian Orthodox Church buildings called Kizhi Pogost are 150-miles east of the Russian border with Finland. The impressive domes of the pair of churches tower over the surrounding countryside and were designed to attract the Christian community of this remote wilderness to one spot on a small island called Kizhi on the waters of Lake Onega. Kizhi Pogost is such a rare example of religious architecture that the site it was listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1990…
