GUITARISTS that want to lay down some slick licks will soon be able to get their hands on a brand new guitar - made from oil cans. Designed by a small American company, Bohemian Guitars, the inspiration behind the oil can guitar comes from the resourceful musicians of the townships in South Africa who use items that are lying around and turn them into playable instruments. The handmade six string electric oil can guitars produce a clean bluesy twang with a fantastic sound which will appeal to musicians of all levels. Called the Boho Series, guitars comes in three styles: Bohemian Honey, Bohemian Motor Oil, and Bohemian Moonshine and all feature top quality maple necks with rosewood fingerboards. All necks have 24 frets and a scale length of roughly 26 inches. A brainchild of brothers, Adam and Shaun Lee, who spent their childhood growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa, they wanted to share a piece of their homeland and spread the joy created by the unique sounds of oil can guitars with musicians all over the world.
