Families in an Indian slum put their lives on the line by living on top of an ACTIVE railway track. Located in Kolkata, India, the slum is home to around 1,000 residents and their makeshift shelters sit a foot away from the train tracks. Children gleefully play on the tracks throughout the day, and step aside whenever a train whistles by. Indian photographer Debosmita Das visited the slum, which stretches between 2 to 3 km, to document the dangerous living conditions.
