Gabrielle Dale, 26, was subjected to seven years of coercive control and physical abuse at the hands of her violent boyfriend Sean Owen, 29. She was beaten and strangled - fearing for her life. In 2019, terrified he'd kill her during an attack, she recorded him strangling her and threatening to kill her with a knife. The final straw came when he sexually assaulted her in bed in May 2020. She reported him to police and he was arrested and found guilty in April 2023 of coercive controlling behaviour and sexual assault. He was jailed for five years at Cardiff Crown Court. Gabrielle is now waiving her right to anonymity to raise awareness of domestic and sexual assault.
