SURROUNDED by tens of thousands of fish, this outnumbered diver is dwarfed by a mass of sea life. The diver appears unfazed, moving to take a closer look as the sardines create a whirlpool around him. These stunning photographs were captured by photographer Paul Cowell, 41, during a dive off Mactan Island in the Philippines. 'I love being underwater with my camera, you never know what is going to appear from the murky depths,' says Paul, originally from Manchester, UK but now living in Singapore. 'When something amazing like these sardines show up you are completely lost in the moment - it's important to monitor your depth and air as you can easily get carried away and lose track of time.
