A couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last week and have received a special card from newly crowned King Charles and Queen Camilla. Childhood sweethearts Colin Askey, 90, and wife June, 89, tied the knot on May 9, 1953, after meeting when they were just 15. The couple, who live in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, share five children, 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Now, Colin and June are celebrating their Platinum wedding anniversary and have shared their secrets to a long and happy marriage. Colin, an ex-professional football player for Port Vale, says: “I couldn't have chosen a better wife than June. It's a miracle she's put up with me for so many years. Our secret to a happy marriage is to ‘agree to disagree’.”
