A BLIND man was battered with a brick in a sickening attack by two thugs. Michael Chaplin, 21, and Darrell Hughes, 19, assaulted the disabled man and his father as they walked home along Hull's Spring Bank. Chaplin and Hughes turned on their victims after the son said "alright lads" to them. During the savage beating, Chaplin hit the 21-year-old blind man in the face three times with a brick, causing multiple facial fractures. Hughes repeatedly struck the father with a house "for sale" sign. The father and son later revealed they both thought they were going to die. In the son's victim impact statement read to Hull Crown Court, he said: "I was just terrified. I feared for my life and my dad's life "My instinct was to flee. I know it's not a very brave thing to do but I just thought I was going to die
