COULD this £5,000 auction of Paul McCartney’s Liverpool front door be the most bizarre celebrity sale yet? The door, which looks-like it may have been knocked – and possibly kicked – very hard during its past, was used by members of Britain’s most famous band to visit lead-singer Paul McCartney when he lived at the address from 1955 to 1964. The number 20 is still clearly visible, however the handle and letter box have been removed. Pictures show singer-entertainer Glen South, 67, from Colne, Lancashire, posed with his pea-green door from the home of Beatle-legend Sir Paul McCarty shortly before the door went under the hammer. ‘In 1974 I heard from a friend in the music business that the family who owned the former-McCartney family home was doing a refurbishment,’ said Glen.
