Ashlee, 20, has always known that she was supposed to be a girl. Born Zachariah, the psychology student hated wearing boys’ clothes and longed to wear frilly dresses and makeup. She even became the captain of her school’s netball team. After leaving school at 16, Ashlee knew she couldn’t live as a boy anymore, and with the support of her parents Elizabeth, 50, and Elwyn, 65, began to live as a girl. But her GP was less supportive, and when Ashlee asked to go on hormone therapy to complete her transformation, he turned her down for being too young
