Officers arrested more than 250 drivers in a bid to stop them using a busy Birmingham A-road as a makeshift “drag strip“. Traffic officers used a covert micro-camera hidden in road signals on the A47 in Nechells, to secure driving bans totalling more than 300 years. The crackdown was launched in response to what police described as a high-speed free-for-all with residents complaining of screeching tyres and revving engines.
