Katie Thompson, 22, met Joe Firby, now 23, in April 2020 on Tinder. The pair hit it off and started dating. In April 2021, their son, Vinnie, now 2, was born. But Joe wasn’t a hands on dad. Instead, he preferred late nights at the gym and going out drinking with friends. In April 2022, the couple split briefly after Katie heard rumours he’d cheated. But after begging for her forgiveness, they got back together. Then in August that year, Joe went to work in Liverpool. For 24 hours, Katie couldn’t get hold of him. Next day, he called, saying he’d left his phone in the gym. But hours later, Katie’s friend sent a video of Joe. It was him having sex in public with an unknown woman. Strangers had filmed them and uploaded the footage to social media. Soon it went viral. Katie later discovered Joe had met the woman in the gym. Katie had to ID Joe when the police investigated. In November 2022, the woman, Kelly Cousins, 35, was convicted of outraging public decency. She was handed a 10-week suspended sentence and ordered to complete 40-hours of unpaid work at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court. A month later, Joe Firby, 23, was caught and pleaded guilty to the same offence. In January this year, he was sentenced at Sefton Magistrates' Court to a 12-month community order.
