A NAZI U-Boat bunker in Berlin provides a rusting snapshot into the lives of Germany's elite WW2 forces. Pictures from the abandoned time-capsule in a small village outside Berlin shows the cramped and basic conditions naval officers coordinating the Battle of the Atlantic were forced to work in. From dodgy electrics to rusting air-conditioning this Nazi site was one of the few spared by the victorious Soviet forces because of its easily defended strategic position. Irish photographer Ciaran Fahey, 35, spends his time exploring the abandoned buildings of Germany's capital and was delighted to uncover this eye-opening example of WW2 heritage. Nazi U-boats were reponsible for destroying over 5,000 Allied ships or about 13 millions tonnes of shipping. Historians believe Britain was close to losing the war because U-boats were destroying vitals goods and food necessary for the war effort. Many argue Britain was only able to continue to fight Germany thanks to the development of U-boat hunting tactics that eventually crippled the German fleet
